Two Paths to Freedom: Freelancer vs. Solopreneur
Freedom doesn’t look the same for everyone.
Some of us want the security of working for others; others want to build something of our own.
Both paths to freedom are valid—but both need visibility.
When you say you want freedom, do you mean *freedom from* or *freedom to*?
Freedom from the 9–5, in-office, in a cubicle, applying to jobs, being “on” the job market, updating resumes and cover letters, preparing for endless interviews, means:
🙅🏽♀️🙅🏽♂️🙅🏽No more 🙅🏽♀️🙅🏽♂️🙅🏽
micromanaging boss(es),
office politics,
people pleasing/shape shifting behavior,
working overtime or on weekends or late or on holidays,
commuting and meal prep and mental prep,
basically being on the hamster wheel…
or to lean into….
Freedom to call the shots, create your own system, and build something with your name on it:
🌿🌿So you’d be 🌿🌿
A freelancer/contractor/independent worker that repurposes the corporate ladder to fit your needs on your time - if you choose to work online/hybrid/in-person - basically working within and/or around the 9-5 system and not interested in climbing or being defined by it
A solopreneur/entrepreneur who has a message/service/product wants to sell it consistently and be known for doing that thing
Do work for others on your terms = freelancer/contractor
Do your work on your terms for others = solopreneur/entrepreneur
That’s where the fork in the road shows up:
Path One → Freelancer
You sell your skills.
Someone else owns the bigger vision, but you get paid to plug in and deliver.
Freelancing is about leveraging contracts, agencies, and networks so you don’t have to constantly hunt.
It gives you quick wins, consistent income, and the peace of knowing you can always pick up another gig/contract - when you feel like working, for how long you want to work, and it supplements well if you’re also growing a side hustle/business.
But here’s the catch: freelancing is a treadmill.
Stop running, and the paycheck stops too.
Path Two → Solopreneur
You sell the system *you* built.
You hone in on a problem, design the offer, and build the audience.
Solopreneurship is about stacking assets over time—your newsletter, your website, your body of work. Instead of running on someone else’s treadmill, you’re laying bricks for your own foundation.
The tradeoff?
It’s slower to start. There’s no guaranteed paycheck in month one.
But the compounding is real.
Each asset you build makes the next one easier.
The Overlap: Visibility
Whether you’re freelancing or solopreneuring, one truth doesn’t change: if people can’t find you, opportunities can’t find you.
That’s why digital presence isn’t optional—it’s oxygen.
Your LinkedIn, your website, your resume, your portfolio… these are the storefronts where people decide if they’ll trust you with their time, money, or opportunities.
And let’s be honest: it’s usually not your talent that holds you back—it’s the fact that nobody sees it.
That’s Where I Come In
This month, I’m opening a few spots to help fix the #1 thing that makes or breaks your chances: **your digital presence.**
One asset.
One month.
Done!
Whether it’s your LinkedIn, your portfolio, or your website—I’ll help you sharpen it so the right people find you, remember you, and want to work with you. 😍😍
If freedom is the goal, visibility is the first step.
