And she’s honest: landing in the Philippines brought fear, doubt, and the shock of being far from everything familiar. But the feeling that “this is where I’m meant to be” was stronger than the uncertainty.

What I deeply appreciated is Gina’s honesty about identity loss—especially when the Wi-Fi wasn’t strong enough for her remote teaching job, and she had to let go of the last piece of her former identity. That moment broke her open and pushed her fully into entrepreneurship.
Reinvention always includes grief. It always includes shedding.
And yet—her story shows that clarity grows in those gaps.

Wave Enterprise Co. wasn’t a fully formed idea at the beginning. It was a series of pivots—record label origins, teaching, then falling into marketing, design, podcasting, and eventually niching into female-owned wellness brands through lived experience abroad.
Her biggest advice?
Experiment. Practice. Pay attention to what resonates.

We also talked honestly about money—something too many entrepreneurship stories gloss over. Gina shared that a settlement from her husband’s near-fatal accident created a financial foundation that gave them room to experiment. That cushion mattered. It influenced their timeline, their confidence, and their ability to grow slowly.
This nuance matters.
Clarity doesn’t mean being reckless.
Clarity means being honest about what you need to feel safe enough to leap.
🌐 The Role of Community (and the Loneliness No One Talks About)
Community kept coming up—both its power and its challenges. Entrepreneurship can be isolating, especially abroad. Some countries offered connection; others didn’t. Some seasons felt expansive; others felt lonely. And as we both discussed, the U.S. often lacks third places—spaces that naturally support community.
Clarity doesn’t grow in isolation. We need each other.
🤖 Technology, AI, and the Future of Work
Toward the end, we shifted into AI, creativity, and the future of decision-making in work. Gina uses AI as a tool—ChatGPT, Descript, Riverside—but emphasizes that humans must remain in the driver’s seat. Messaging, connection, nuance, and genuine presence can’t be automated.
We also talked about the danger of outsourcing decision-making to AI—how that could strip people of agency, autonomy, and human influence within work culture. AI can enhance clarity, but it should never replace it.

One of Gina’s final messages was this:
You don’t have to follow the old paradigm.
You don’t need one career for 30 years.

And reinvention isn’t just possible—it’s becoming necessary.
