🌿 A Day in the Life: Chaos, Clarity, and the Year of the Horse (ep 17)

January 2026

This year began with a different kind of energy — not the sprint of a fresh start, but the quiet, reflective hum of something shifting beneath the surface. We’re still in winter, still in the season of digestion and recalibration, and yet there’s a pulse running through 2026 that feels unmistakable. In the Chinese zodiac, this is the Year of the Horse — a symbol of stamina, intuition, power, and movement.

And I’ve been sitting with that image a lot lately: the strength of a horse, the fear and reverence it evokes, the way it carries both chaos and clarity in its body.

For those who are new here, A Day in the Life is my monthly behind‑the‑scenes series — a space where I share what I’m building, questioning, learning, and unlearning as I continue to leave traditional work structures and build something that fits my life, not the other way around.

This series now lives inside the paid tier because it’s intimate, honest, and rooted in the kind of transparency that deserves a protected space. Thank you for being here. Your presence makes this work possible.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about horsepower — not just the literal measure of force, but the metaphor. Horses have carried humans across continents, pulled weights far beyond their size, and offered emotional attunement in therapeutic settings. They’re powerful, intuitive, and deeply sensitive.

And that duality mirrors the moment we’re in: a year that feels both fast and slow, chaotic and clarifying, overwhelming and grounding.

The world is shifting — politically, economically, technologically — and many of us are feeling that same shift internally. The question becomes: How do we move through this without losing ourselves?

This is the tension I’ve been sitting with in my business. I’ve never resonated with the labels “career coach” or “business coach” because they imply that work and identity are separate.

They assume that everyone wants a career, or that everyone should build a business. I never wanted a career — I didn’t even know I needed one until I was already in debt with a degree and trying to survive on my own.

My twenties were a blur of emotional healing, family dynamics, relationship patterns, and the pressure to be self‑sufficient. It was chaos and clarity at the same time.

And now, as work itself evolves, I’m asking again: What does my work want to be? What do I want it to feel like?

Part of that reflection led me to restructure this Substack and lean more intentionally into the paid tier. I want this space to be intimate, reciprocal, and grounded — a place where we can explore the messy middle together. I also still offer my services for those navigating reinvention: my Reset Day VIP Day (one client every Friday, deep clarity + positioning + assets) and my One‑Month Container (for those making bigger shifts or needing longer‑term support).

These offerings are for people who aren’t money‑motivated, who don’t equate higher pay with higher worth, and who want to build a work‑life rhythm that honors their values, not the system’s expectations.

The question I’m holding right now is about sustainability.

What does it look like in a year like this — a year of horsepower, chaos, and clarity?

  • Is sustainability something that lasts a season? A year?

  • Or is it a skill — the ability to know when to move, when to pause, when to pivot, and when to stay?

Safety is shifting, too.

For years, safety meant getting out of debt. Now that I’ve done that, safety looks like consistency, emotional grounding, and creating the conditions that allow this work to become my full‑time reality. It requires new muscles, new risks, and new forms of trust.

What I know is this: we’re all in this together. We’re all navigating chaos and seeking clarity in our own ways.

We’re all redefining safety, meaning, and resilience. And none of us know exactly what the outcome will look like — which is why holding it loosely matters. I want this podcast and this Substack to become my full‑time work, but I also know it may evolve into something I can’t yet imagine.

That’s part of the practice: showing up, experimenting, receiving, and trusting that the path will reveal itself as we walk it.

Wherever you are — in clarity, in chaos, in the in‑between — I’m with you. I hope you’re breathing.

I hope you’re tending to yourself in the ways you can. And I hope you feel the quiet truth beneath all of this: things have a way of working themselves out when we’re willing to meet the messy middle with honesty, courage, and presence.

Until next time — take care of yourself.
And thank you for being here.
